Bourne to Stage New Dance Version of Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray
Matthew Bourne's New Adventures will present Dorian Gray — freely adapted from Oscar Wilde's gothic masterpiece — which will preview at Plymouth's Theatre Royal Aug. 14-16 before opening at this year's Edinburgh International Festival on Aug. 22, where it will play at the King's Theatre through Aug. 30.
The production will then come to London's Sadler's Wells for a Sept. 2-14 run before touring to Norwich's Theatre Royal (Sept. 16-20) and Newcastle's Theatre Royal (Sept. 23-27).
Bourne will devise, direct and choreograph the new show, which will feature music by Terry Davies and designs by usual collaborator Lez Brotherston. Davies, Brotherston and lighting designer Paul Constable all previously worked with Bourne on his Olivier Award-winning production of Play without Words. The new work has been commissioned by the Edinburgh International Festival in association with Sadler's Wells. It is Bourne's first new work for the company in nearly three years.
